lol guys LS1's are not gods, lol... You take a 98 Cobra and add some 4.10s (over the stock 3.27)... and Cobra = LS1 time wise. I say you get which one you like the best. Those Cobras make ridiculous power from mods, just like the LS1's do. Go drive both, and figure out one just "feels" better to you. Best way to make your decision. But as far as a racing standpoint... a Cobra is a gearset away from running right with the LS1...

98 Cobra vs LS1 Camaro, both stock with average driver, the Camaro will win. The Camaro runs 13.2-13.4 stock, the Cobra runs 13.7-13.9 stock. And where did you ever get that a Cobra would be cheaper everywhere. There is a 99 Camaro Z28 with a 5spd for sale with 60,000 miles on the odometer for $7800. I havent seen a 98 Cobra for sale around here for awhile, but I bet it would be more than $8000. LS1 can run 12's with ease, it will take alot more for the Cobra, but hey its a Cobra and the 4v loves mods. Its totally up to you though if you wanna go to the "DARKSIDE", lol
i havent seen a f-body with a 5 speed in it. they are m6's

i would go with the cobra over the ls1

Yeah be different! Go with the Cobra to purchase

I would get the Cobra. There arent that many 1998 Cobras running around as there are Camaro's. Be different!!!! LS1 Camaro's are a dime a dozen and if you intend on modding you'll feel less pain in your wallet choosing the Cobra.

In my area (SF Bay Area) a clean 1998 Cobra with 75K miles goes for around $9000.

If you like working on your car the cobra will be alot easier. Those f bodies are a pain in the a** to work on. I would go cobra but I am partial to fords.
