Default Prelude vs mustang?

What would it take for a N/A prelude to beat a basically stock 02 mustang GT coupe 5spd with a decent driver?

My buddy got beat by a n/a lude, and I was amazed that he was able to beat him, should I have been?

Well for a H22 5spd to beat a New Edge 5spd he's going to need more than just I/H/E. Port/Polished head with some nasty cams.

Actually forget that those Preludes are too heavy. Nothing short of a turbo/nitrous is going to help him. Unless he has dropped some real serious $$ into an all-motor build

I/H/E hondata and some cams and cam-gears would have a H22 in the ball-park.

In a light Civic Hatch/Coupe<2300 lbs that would be a pretty nice setup and can beat a New Edge without too much trouble. But in a 2900 pound Prelude that might barely make the cut...with a very good driver.

I am gonna try to line the red car up next to him tomorow. If so, I am sure I can afford the extra wieght of a cameraman

I would have to say a miracle.

Well seriously, I would say that for an avg. guy in a Prelude to do that, he would be spraying. That is the only way that I could think of. OR, a seriously built motor. It is possible but wow...that is all I can say.

What year prelude?

The h22 prelude "v-tecs" in the generation previous to the last (e.g. 1994-1995) were the quickest stock and ran about a 15 flat.

I wouldn't worry too much in a new edge gt.

Exhaust, header, intake and Hondata for a Prelude would put him in the ball park of beating any stock GT, even the 05+ with a really good driver. The Hondata is what nets the major gains and full use of the mods, so without it and those mods your lookin at mid 14s at best.

Exhaust, intake and a tune (I am guessing thats what the hondata is) is gonna net between 1 and 1.5 seconds in the 1/4?

I have a hard time beileving that.

I wouldnt say you would knock off 1.5 seconds with just those mods and a Hondata. I'm saying about 1 full second is the most you'll get, and with a good driver in the Prelude your looking at a flat 15 second car. The H22 I think responds just as well to mods as the K24, I believe that is what the RSX Type-S engine is, LOL. And there have been people getting over 200whp out of header, intake, exhaust and Hondata.
