LOL! Seeing as I'm the VP of a business that serves legal papers like evicition notices, summons and subpoenas I would say it's possible. Here in Florida it costs $80 to file a lawsuit against someone who owes $100-$500 and you don't need an attorney. Don't know the court fees or statutes in your area. Hope I didn't spook you.

Question: I broke my lease a coupla years ago and the apartment complex told me to pay them $500 or something like that. I was like "Yeah whateva" and hung up. Then they threatened to serve me with a lawsuit for $500. I LOLed. Think they would really go through the trouble? Just curious.

Welder/Fabricator. It makes it easy to make custom parts, lol. I fabbed up a whole turbo "kit" for my car, over a period of 3 months a couple hours a week after work (maybe 20-25 hours of actual work, but took longer than that because I consumed alcohol and basically partied at the speed shop inbetween sittings at the weld table). Intalled it all on a saturday, put down 70% more whp on a rough tune on 8 psi, got rear ended, and sold the "kit" for a couple hundred more than it cost me to build. Pretty fun, actually. Now I'm using the skills of the trade to swap a 350 into my '52 Chevy. Just made up a set of motor mounts on saturday.

Odds are slim they'll go after you, however if they told you they were going to go after you in a legal manner but never did, they violated the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act). Most of the time it is simply a scare tactic, hoping they'll scare you into paying. Throw a note on some attorney letter head and freak you out...
