Default First Kill Vs Couglar XR7

This is my first official kill so I wanted to share with some of you guys. So I own an 02 V6 Mustang with a steeda pulley,mac catback and mac cai.


I pull up to this XR7 Cougar at the light, it was like 1993-1998 year and he is reving his V8 and as far as I could see he had some kind of exhaust. So I roll down my window and he asks me if I`m scared to race him.Pretty cocky guy. I roll my windows back not saying a word backing up couple of feet to warm up my tires then stall it around 1200 rpm at the light. Light turns green and I floor it with a pretty good launch gaining about two cars on him and keep gaining distance as race developes . By 80 mph I had good 10 cars on him and I shut it down. He does his little fly by and again I pull up next to him at 40 mph and as soon as I pull up he floors it and takes off so I do the same but I was little late and he gained about good 3 cars on me. I was pulling him in and around 70 and had him about 4 carlengths at 90 and shuting it down. The guy was pretty pissed because he wouldnt look at me when I pulled beside him again and I just str8 up laughed in his face. It was a fun first kill. I looked up the specs for the cars and it says that the V8s weigh around 3700 pounds and rate at 205 hp.

Also my throttle response isnt so great at all. What can I do to improve it. Car like waits waits like 5 seconds sometime building power then it takes off. Is there a problem with something?? I know this isnt a tech section but I wanted to see if anyone knows. Anyways my first kill.

Nice kill. Are you an auto or 5spd? I'm guessing auto because you said you were revin up to 1200rpms. I figured he would have had you, yes they weigh like 500lbs more than you, but they have more hp and way more torque. You sure his wasnt a v6 or something?

Yeah I`m auto and that thing clearly sounded like a V8 to me. Because I honestly couldnt hear my car even runing when he was reving it. Whats the difference between their sixer and 8 cylinder?. Anyway my first random kill.

First off, they stopped makin the XR7 in 97, so there wasnt a 98, just alittle FYI. The v6 comes with 145hp and 215lbs/tq and runs 0 to 60 in 8.5 seconds. The v8 comes with over 200hp and closer to 300lbs/tq. Couldnt find any times on the v8, but the v6's 0 to 60 and your 0 to 60 are about the same.

That was one loud *** exhaust. Was there any difference in body style between the six and 8?.

I dont believe there was any difference in the body, but I do believe there was a v8 badge on the side of the v8's, right where your "232" is on your car. Stock they came with duals just like the v8 Thunderbird and Mustang.

Nah, the V8 t-birds and cougars are f*cking dogs, There are a couple stockers at my drag strip that are stuck in the 17s[8D]

Couldnt see the badges because I wasnt really paying attention to the front of the car. But yeah I owned him pretty bad. I mean those things are pretty damn heavy around 3600-3700 pounds and my stang is like 3000.

You have an auto. Get a big stall. I'd say you should man up, slap a 4k stall and a good set of 4.10s in your sixer.

When you roll race in a auto turn o/d off it should give u better throttle response.
