Default 2004 GTO

I raced my little brothers gto at Bithlo last night he can't beat me in my stang and wanted to see if I could do better, I only ran a 14.4 at 90 couldn't get the ****er in 4th until I had already crossed the line, but any way I know his car is faster It pulls harder than mine but the thing I am wondering is will having adjustable swaybars especially in the rear hurt the launch, his car wheels hops like a bastard, it was so violent when I ran it I had to back off for fear of breaking something, he has hotchkis sways bars and when set to hardest tension they are like more than doulbe the strength of stock. I still got a better 60 ft than I get with my stang though of 2.1 but damn it felt like terrible with all that wheel hop. Any Ideas on why it is doing this, it will do it even on the street just trying to do a burnout.

Go to the GTO forums and ask this question, LOL, j/k. 14.4 is due to driver error, they are capable of 13.8 or so stock. Your brother is probably gonna have to work alittle on his suspension, springs, shocks, motor mounts, and other stuff. If he has these suspension mods and some DR's he could probably get mid 13's easily.

Iknow what they are capable of my question is if his swaybars are making it launch worse than if it was stock. I know 14.4 was driver error isaid i nevcer even got it in 4th have to shift into 4th with a least 150 ft to go.

Everything I have read about GTO's is that they had BAD wheel hop, as you experienced. I can't remember exactly what all helps but just undo the endlinks to the sway bar and try again to see shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to find out. I'm sure its more than a little possible. But better LCA's and other rear suspension bits are also supposed to help.

You have stock gears right? Why do you shift into 4th? 90mph in the 1/4 mile? My diagnosis is that you are shifting way to early. Try shifting right before red line. your trap speed should be at least 97 at minimun. If you have stock gears you should be stil in 3rd gear

For your guys information I only trapped 90 because I was coasting because I couldn't get it in fourth in time and I was coasting, not on the gas. At about 100-150ft from the end third is topped out at redline at 92 mph, with stock tires stock gears. I know it usualy traps either side of 100 mph. Don't worry about the quarter mile time I know the car has more my stang does better and his gto is a lot faster, my question was about the wheel hop don't know a whole lot about the independent setup.

If you are at redline at 92 mph then you have 3.73 . thats what I have. When I had stock gears i never shifted into 4th now with the gears i do. Take a look at the gear calculator and check it out. I just did and it sounds right. As for the GTO, launching with IRS sucks. Look into some bushing or stiffer shocks, hopefully that will help.

lol, get off his trap speed guys, that trap speed was in the GTO if I'm reading correctly. Ya can't be comparing what gear you are in with your GT's to what gear the GTO was in at the end of the quarter...

A GTO only does 13.8 stock? That seems awful slow for the LS1. I drove one (An '04), it "Felt" faster than that. But, I know how well the butt dyno is...

Sorry I don't have any technical info to add...just had to clear that up.
