Default You probably don't care

The other day, I raced my dad's car for the first time. His car is a 97 TA Convertible WS6 with the Auto and my car is a 93 Firebird Formula, Flowmaster exhaust, K&N, and its been chipped*.
My brother is driving my dad's car and I'm driving mine. I thought for sure he would kill me, his just feels faster. So we line up, light turns green, I don't see it, he beats me by a car length. On the way back from the store, we line up again, and gun it when it turns green, We are so dead even, its scary, I slowly ( I mean SLOWLY) creep about a yard ahead, so my front wheel is a yard infront of his front wheel, till about 60 then we shut it down, I was so happy. Not that anybody cares, considering this is a mustang site, but hey, I felt like typing it.

I've always heard the '93s are the fastest of the LT1s,but IDK,whats the difference between a WS6 and a regular T/A?Also is your car a manual or a auto?

I think they are because of the speed density thing

Mine's an auto. The WS6 has tighter suspension, ram air, and better exhaust, I'm not the expert on it so I can't go into detail. The 93-94 LT1s had 275hp and in 95-97s they bumped it up to 285, the WS6 adds 20, so my pa's car has 305hp, while a 93-94 car with the WS6 would have 295, while mine (from the factory) had 275hp, but... is 200lbs lighter (hardtop vs. convert).

edit, speed density? whats that?

In 94 they got the mass air flow sensor which is said to make them a bit slower than the 93s. I think it's called speed density but I have no idea now[&:]

Well, seeing how the 93s have less hp, they must have done something right, can't slow it down more than 10hp with out adding more weight.

Woops, sorry guys, turns out WS6s were only 95+

Well the reason the 96-97s where rated at 285 hp was because they had dual catalytic converters. Nothing a simple exhaust cant fix

The WS6 option didn't really add 20 hp, except in the make-believe land of GM marketing. And convertibles are heavier.
