I got my black '01 Mustang GT 5spd coupe a few weeks ago and of course all the guys with fast cars flock to it. I haven't raced any of them because none of my mods are in yet (except for my K&N... hooray for 2 extra horses), but the 2 guys that are after me the most are driving an 01 Eclipse 6cyl with a turbo and a 96 GT with a '94 5.0 Cobra motor implanted in it (as well as Flowmasters). He doesn't have any of the other Cobra benefits as far as I know.

They're both manuals and the Eclipse guy has already beaten the Cobra clone. Think I have a shot at either of these guys once I have my exhaust and some other goodies under the hood?

 

What kind of guy turbo's a 3rd gen eclipse,the ultimate chick car? And there's really nothing too special about a '94 Cobra motor.You might have a shot now,and will definatly have a shot after some mods.

 

He thinks he is a huge badass because of his turbo. I can't wait to wipe the street with him.

 

Those 3rd gen are trash. Especially the 6 cylinders. Pretty crazy that the 4 cylinder has more potential. You can use a Evo 4+ head on the 4G64 block and make a bit of a sleeper.

Now who knows what that V6 is running. Probably somewhere in the 13s with some good launching. Go ahead and race him from a dig now you might have a shot.

 

Ya just race them, if u lose u lose, no biggy, then next time when u get your mods, and wipe the floor with them, they'll be like what the hell???? They wont know what hit em.

I also odnt like the third gen eclipses, but like any other car, if their done right they can be fast. How much did he beat the cobra clone by? A 5.0 cobra engine makes 240-250rwhp, so if he won by a lot, then id say he'll take you stock.

 

I walked on a 00+ Saab S9 (6 cyl turbo) from a light. Then he followed me a bit and we went from a 35 mph roll, and I walked on him again.

 

I definatly do not see the cobra motor making 240-250 to the tire. They were rated at what, 240 WHP? Isn't it just a 5.0 ho with a different intake manifold (and maybe cam?) .

 

and GT40 heads I believe.
