Default Raced an LT1 Trans Am Saturday

Hey guys.

After I went to show my new Z off to my brother that has the 97 Z28 I had a run in with a 95-97 Trans Am. (Oh, my brother was loving the car. He got in and was like "Ohh Man!" this thing has way more power than my car. That was when he was trying to ease into it). Anyway... This Trans Am sounded sick. Definitely had to have some engine work done(I'm thinking H/C, atleast). Only reason I say this is b/c of the top end. We were playing back and forth until we both got a light and where at the front. Light turns green I waste him through second gear, figured the race was over and I crushed him, so I shift into 4th gear. He then proceeds to flyby me. I said, "Oh ****!" and dropped it into third to catch up, but this guy was just trying to drive fast(110+), so I let him go. I have two questions here. What does it take for a LT1 Trans Am to run with my tuned Z06? When is the race officially over? I killed him out the hole nasty, my dad said he looked back and couldn't see him at all.

Thanks guys,

Josh

I think he held into it and passed you just to make himself feel better. Playing on the street like that from a red light I think you made a wise choice letting off, there's no sense in running over 100 mph when your just playing around like that. It's dangerous speeding though town like that. GOOD CHOICE.

It wasn't safe. The good thing was no one else was around us, so that's a plus. I have to admit, though his car sounded sweet. Sure wasn't stock exhaust. Maybe I'll run into him later and see what he's pushing.

An decently aggresive H/C set up and supporting mods should do it. Done properly with the right parts an H/C cane be anywhere from 360-430rwhp on an LT1. And I figure 400rwhp horsepower should be capable to taking your car down.

there are always different ways of ending races, way we do it around here is when you can stay in front of the guy for a little while and get a chance to tap the brakes (just enough for the light to come on) and let him know he needs to quit trying...either that or until one of yall gives up
