i am a big fan of them. ive been running them for several years now, since i was first in the high 13s. even on a poorly prepped track, ive seldom had any traction issues. ive gotten my 3600lb sled into the 1.67 short time range...running mid 12s.

however, for people who are going to street them, theyre rough. a few years ago i went out on what looked to be a beautiful day, but it rained once i got where i was going...and the drive home was BRUTAL. between the QTPs and the 3300 stall, it was a long slippery drive home...which is why im probably not going to run them on the demon. however, if i find cheap rims, i might buy a set for track time.

i know that people have ALOT of good stuff to say about the MT ETs, and the BFGs, but while they might be better, i have never had any reason to leave the hoosiers, and i cant forsee the MT ET or BFG getting me better than a 1.67...

the strip we go to,
scroll down, theres pics of the new assphault they got

yea, usually we drive around the water, then back up to the edge...and one time forgot to put it in D(rive) and did a reverse burnout.[:'(]

is it fair for a 12sec car to do a nice big burnout on street tires?

the thing is heating up most street tires is going to hurt you, whether you should heat them up has nothing to do w/ your ET

I owned both MT DR's and BFG DR's. Cost is about same -- $370 a set delivered. People say MT's are better than BFG's because of the longer lasting compound. Some also say their cars can't break tires with them in second gear. I don't know how they know for sure unless they feel their rear ends getting away, as the soft compound is very quiet when spinning on the ground at 24 lbs. While it is certainly true the MT's do last longer, I think the BFG's give the better bite -- on the street. Never been to a track but will go next outting at Englishtown, NJ.

DR's for the street and slicks for the track....after running slicks I can't believe people would do it any other way.

In your opinion -- and I know your opinion is very good -- If a given car can run consistant 11:50's on track with BFG DR's, what can or should it run with Slicks?

we would need to see how good the traction is, based on the 60' time...which you dont have...because youve not been to the track...

i have run the same size slick and QTP, and my times have been about the same with short times around 1.67 for my best with both kinds of tires.

now, say that i ran 13.00 with a 2.05 short time, then yes, slicks would help, but my car gets out of the hole well for a sled.
