Going to race a T/A
Is the TA a stick or auto? If an auto then he should run mid 13's. After the planned mods, the Mustang in question should be able to do that or close to it with some good traction.
If the Trans Am owner does so much as swap the rear tires for stickies, however, Ellis Juan will bring the pain. The biggest way in which stock LS1's are hampered from the factory are the stock tires that are overpowered by the torque.
Have you ever seen any fast Mustangs? [sm=smiley36.gif]
I have been beaten badly by a bolt-on New Edge GT. He ran 13.05 @ 104 on a 1.8 60 ft to my 13.54 @ 105, 2.1 60 ft. That's enough to beat (or at the very least tie) even a well-driven 6-speed LS1. It was warm that day so with cool air he could do even better and in fact he had previously run 12.9.
BTW, I ran my 13.34 that same day. I dunno what happened with that 13.54.

I have yet to see a stock internal NA 2V keep up with a properly driven LS1 F-bod. I think our timeslip database will confirm this...

I've seen guys on here get into the 12's with bolt-on 2V's, not many though. Never seen one in real life.
About the 12's stock...most guys won't do it, that's for sure. I'd love to take a stock M6 car and give it a shot now that I've done this for a while, just to try and bust 12's. Of course, Evan Smith did it in a '98 SS, the slowest year of the LS1 and in bad weather. He ran a 12.8.....it was even in an issue of MM&FF.
If you can outlaunch him pretty hard, which you should on Nitto's and him on street tires, you might have a shot at it. He could easily get excited at seeing you launch on him and then he'd continue to blow the tires off.

FWIW, he drove a Bullitt the same day as the SS test and got a best of 13.91 with it.

He ran a 1998 Z28 to a 12.89 in 57* weather, pretty good for racing. A few years later he ran a 2001 SS (from GM's press fleet) to a 12.96 in hot weather, 91*. The SS put down 325 (!) to the wheels on a chassis dyno so there was some speculation as to whether or not GM had provided a ringer.
