98GT vs. RX-8
last night, a couple my friends went cruisin'. myself in my 98GT, friend nick in his 5.7 GTO and friend Rob in his 81 Firebird (10 second car btw) As we were driving we got hungry and stopped at McDonalds for a quick fix, as we sat there a kid that graduated last year rolled up in his Black Cherry (purple in my opinion) RX-8. with wicked sweet Underglows! after discussing cars for a while he called me out like i knew he would. so we go to a nearby straightaway. i raced him a total of five times 3 from a dig. 2 from a 40mph roll. each time i ripped him a new *** hole. and one dig i almost stalled my car, stillended up a car and half length on him.afterwards we chilled at my house and the RX-8 kids friend now wants to race me in his 240sx (intake & exhaust he said with a smerk on his face) ill see what happens soon. ill have video of it.
BTW on the last race, the RX-8 and I were up to about 95 when Rob (firebird) 3/4 throttled it past me like i was in park, funny funny ****.

the RX-8 was an auto with that clutchless shifter thing. i did hear about the RX-8's having different horsepower based on stick or auto. the sticks have like another 20hp or something. kinda like how the Ferrari 360 packages work.
If the 240 wants to race you, then one of two things:
A.) He's a jack *** and doesn't know his KA only makes 130-140 to the wheels
or
B) Is turbocharged.
I vote B just to the "smirk" factor. A bolt on kit for the 2.4L puts a little over 200whp, an SR20 swap could have anywhere from 200-400+ depending on turbo upgrade & mods. The "typical" set-up most turbo 240s is around 230-250whp, but weigh around 2800lbs.
If it was me, thats what I would assume and proceed from there before throwing money down.
nice kill.. RX-8's are hella-slow. I drove one at the Mazda-Rev it Up. As with most rotaries NO TORQUE and only 238 to the flywheel. Handles well, but thats about it. The wankel aint much without boost.
