Default RACING TIPS

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the street racing scene. I'm new to the car scene. I just got an 07 Mustang GT...5 speed. I love it. I'm addicted to this web site, i'm addicted to the car. I've been doing tons of research on it, both before and after I bought it.

I need some racing tips.

OK - is it standard to race from a roll at 40 mph? What gear should I drop down to at this point...3rd? 2nd?

What's the best way to get a great launch? What should I rev to? Drop the clutch all the way immediately?

How do you do doughnuts?

Anyone know a good performance shop to take the Stang to in OKC?'

THANKS FOR THE HELP!

holy ****...

roll from 40 drop into second (if you have stock gears)

Launching: Practice. Try launching between 1500-2000 if you are gonna drop the clutch, or try 3000 if you are gonna let the cluth out slowly, just to experiment.

Donuts? First gear, rev to 1500-9000 rpms and drop it, then spin. watch the throttle though, try and stay below redline n ****. While you are doin this, crank the wheel. Then try to pop the trunk and hood, and turn on the A/C for bonus points.

Well I don't really like roll races that much, I will do 'em, but I consider "real" races from a digg...

Anyways, if you are doing a 40 roll, you should be in 2nd gear. Shift at the redline, and try to shutdown at the end of 4th gear. 5th gear is a gear made mostly for economic purposes, 1-4th are made for racing.

From a digg, you want to be in first(obviously), and you want to launch around 2000-2500 RPM's, with TCS and your Airconditioning off. You also don't want to just "dump" the clutch, two things are bad with doing that... First is, it can be bad for your clutch and you should only dump your clutch when doing a smokey burnout. Second, you will end up spining out a lot more. It is better to feather the clutch a little bit(on the launch), and shift at the redline. You need to practice to get good at launching.

Donuts, can be easy, and not too hard on your car. I ussually turn TCS off, Rev up to about 5500 RPMs, and dump the clutch.

Yes, actually when I meant street races, I meant going to the track and or abandonded/unused concrete. I'm dead set against real street racing, don't want to be responsible for hurting anyone else. Don't think I could live with that. Plus, I wouldn't want to destroy my car.

Your Cobra is ABSOLUTELY SICK.

Get some sticky tires and practice a quick slip of your clutch on the launch from right where your powerband starts. If done right it won't put too much wear on your clutch and will keep much of the stress off of your drivetrain. Besides, clutches are a lot cheaper to replace than say... axles and driveshafts

And yah, you got your head in the right place... take it to a track or abandoned area if you can! =)

This should probably be on the tech section, but im getting radials and im going to be pushing a bit over 420rwhp, though we will see in the dyno, is a new axle a good idea?

eee... 4.6 tech probably your best bet. I would say no, but I don't know for sure...better watch that motor though. I'd get some forged **** ASAP
