Default warming tires

I just got an 07 mustang and putting on a pair of drag radials for the track. when i do the burn out i dont want to just do a burn out, i want to do a powerstand. Where the front brakes lock up and the back end can only go left and right but the car never moves, but how do i hit the brakes right to do that with a 5 speed manual?

I always just rev it up to about 3k or so dump the clutch and grab the brake with my left foot. You can modulate the brakes to hold it still and keep the motor from bogging down. Its not terribly difficult. Some people with snow skis for feet can hold the brake and the gas with one foot.

^^^^just like he said but, what I do is I go around the waterbox then back in. Then I do a 2nd gear burnout, throw it in 2nd rev it up and dump the clutch, in the water it will be easy to spin in this gear plus you can really warm them up. Alright so 2nd gear dump the clutch and just catch the brake with the left foot. Then when you think you are warmed up enough keep on the gas and let off the brake. You'll still be spinning for a second then once you catch let off the gas or you will have to back up to line up at the tree.

Tried this once. It's possible but it's a bit more difficult to modelate the throttle. Big foot FTW

CobraSnake why do you put it in second? What's wrong with first?

2nd gear will spin the tires faster and put more heat into them.

I was thinking about doing a 3rd gear burnout in the new cobra because of the 4.30 gears but, i believe 2nd gear is more then enough.

second gear burnouts rule. instant smoke, more heat, more spinnage.

on a mustang GT with my mods, would it be wise to do a 2nd gear burnout on the stock clutch?

sure why not. It can't be as bad and dumping the clucth in 1st on the street which i know some if not most people do in there stangs which some are stock. I haven't heard of any problems from that so 2nd wouldn't be any different. Plus the water will help the tires brake loose so that should be less strain on the clutch.
