Ok so everyone knows what I drive already, if you don't look at my screen name =) (5speed, stock)
Anyways, im driving home and I see this maxima, it looks like a 2000-2002 model. Im not sure
if it was a 3.0 or a 3.5. Anyways, we drive side by side and he starts pulling away, at first I don't
bother to catch up. I just keep driving and what do ya know? We both stop at a red light...
So of course we go, I left him behind thru 3rd gear about 3 car lenghts, then I slow down at about 70
and he catches up, I hit it in third again and start pulling away slowly, once hes half a car length ahead
I hear his engine make some loud noise and he starts catching up... Im like whatta hell, were about even at
90mph and then I stomp on the breaks (dont want a ticket) he keeps going, passes me and turns on his hazards,
god damn that pissed me off, the ricer thought he won. We come to another red light, I once again leave him
behind, then finally ONE more red light, we approached it rolling and it turned green right before we got to the
line, I hit it in second again and notice hes even with me side by side again, then I press on breaks and he passes me
and goes off on the highway... Are these things really taht fast from a roll or in that matter, in thrid gear? I was
surprised, but I think he might have used nitrous, and I know he had an intake, I heard it.

 

You heard the intake? I never raced one so I couldnt tell you how fast they are.

 

you can hear the intakes if you go from a stop. i can vouch for that. but, idk. if it was the 3.5, yeah, im sure they are pretty quick, but, other than that, they shouldnt be able to hang w/ a GT

 

Yep, I could'v sworn he had something... He only pulled on me from a roll, from the line I beat him badly lol

 

So the first two lights you left him and the third he's right with you? that means he wasn't racing you from the first two...

The new SE v6 5 speeds (with optional 6 speeds) have 265 hp/ 255 ft lbs... they're sick cars.

the maximas are tanks. they weigh just as much, or a lil more than a mustang gt. pretty nice that you rocked him from the light when he's modded and you're completely stock.

 

acording to websites the altimas are as fast as the 350Z's, I asssume the maximas have similar motors.

i raced a new Maxima earlier this year and killed it...hmmm....i got an 88 GT

 

I've got a 2001 maxima along with my stang, and it's pretty quick, especially for it's size, it's got 222hp, the 2002+ have the 3.5 motor and make 260-265 I think, compared to the altima's 240hp. It's geared pretty low too. The 350z only has about 10-15hp more, mostly due to exhaust increase from what I've read. But, they are heavy so I would think from a roll it'd be at least close with a stock GT, both with sticks. However, BIG torque advantage mustang.....
