if you're just launching, I'd suggest an open area, or maybe an intersection (like a 4 way stop or something)....or go find a long open road, stop, then launch.
Note: a neighborhood may not be a bad idea, but don't speed (stay below 25) and watch for pedestians and other motorists.

i would definitly suggest a long open stretch of road...just cause if you want to contiualy practice w/o interreptions that would prob. be the best place or an open parking lot somewhere.
