100' Drag's
Anyone done this or seen it? Our local car club wants to put this on this summer and I have never heard of such a thing. I would think a Ranger in 4Lo would be a contender in such a short sprint.
i doubt it...even with really good traction and steep gearing, i dont think that it will be enough...not enough power. maybe if youre running against a bunch of guys who cant get traction...but i can get to the 60' mark in about 1.7 seconds...and our truck can do it in about 2.08...i dont forsee a ranger doing that...

If there was a way to time it, on a light sort of thing just like at a drag strip, I think it would be VERY popular, and extremely helpful.
Think about it guys, if you could find out how well you're launching w/o having to waste the rest of the 9/10's of the quarter mile, would'nt you want to save the wear/tear on your car?
I sure as hell know I would. I hate running the full quarter mile on a ****ty 60', because no matter how well I run after the launch, it's a wasted run. This way, you could know how you're launching, practice, w/o the extra abuse.
Then, when you finially do go to a full 1/4 mile, you're able to have more experiance under your belt.
Give me a time and place, and i'll be there

I'm not saying it'd be as neat as the full 1/4 mile, nor would you get the 'racing' experiance, but can't you agree that it's an EXCELLENT way to practice launching with some means to judge your performance more so than just practicing on teh street all by yourself?
I dont think i'd like 1/8th mile tracks either, 1, its too short, and 2, I have NO idea how to convert 1/8 tims to 1/4 times accurately.. lol.. most cars run differently in teh second half of the quarter, so it's gotta be some guess work to predict based on times from halfway down the track

i like the 1/4 cus it gives me enough time to drive around people. personally i think there is no better feeling then getting beat off the line and then watching the other drive look at your car like WTF? when you are passing him halfway down the track and leaving him in the dust.
