gto!?
my dads friend just got a new gto...he hasnt even put 1000 miles on it yet so we havnt raced but when it warms up were going to...right now its bone stock....i know the things have 400hp and i think there good for 13.0 1/4? how would i do against a stock gto...and if he were to put long tube headders a off road x/h pipe and some kind of cat back would it gove him alot of power?
At the local track here I have seen the stock 05/06 GTO go anywhere from a 12.9 to a mid 14 depending on the driver and track conditions, from what i have seen they take some practice and skill to get them a decent 60'. once they get moving they are pretty fast.
And yes the LS2 does respond very well to mods.

Would not advise betting him that you'll win! Headders on the GTO really wake them up i'm told and will be my next mod if i don't trade it on a new truck. If you want a chance to win, do it from a dig with your drag radials on and only run to about 80mph. When he grabs 3rd if its a manual, even if its stock, he pull hard on you till it tops out at close to 100mph! Race him before he learns how to launch it as you'll have your best chance, but don't race him from a role as they are nasty fast for a stock car once they get traction. Good luck!
i saw a guy at the track a few years ago...i dont know what was wrong with him or the car, but the guy ran consistant 16s and 17s...everything that this guy could do wrong, he did...launching way too hard spinning the tires...missing geas the whole length of the track..it was unreal...
Good questions - LS2's GTO's have never been discussed in this forum.
Goats are very nice cars but their like a box of chocolates when you race them, ya never know what your going to get. I've seen guys run in the 14's with crazy wheel hop and spinning tires like they were in a burnout contest. And I've seen other stock GTO's run very low 13's with a good driver. Hope your dad's friend cant drive.

i've never lost to a GTO. i haven't been fortunate enough to run into one that had a competent driver behind the wheel.
