Faster then the vette, yes it was the fastest accellerating american production car... By today standards a GNX would put a smack down on quite a few cars.... and a 86-87 GN could prob hang with stock New edges

GNX added an upgraded intercooler in 87 and were the fastest, (mid-high 13s) fastest of that platform though was tthe turbotrans am in 89 due to uising fwd heads and other small things0i love the GM/ford 3.8 motors, they deserve more credit then they get

A guy at the track I go to has one. I race him nearly every weekend. He runs 8.1s in the 1/8th and I couldn't ask for a closerrace. I just love a race that is decided by the reaction time.

My dad has an 87 Turbo Regal and an 89 TTA. It is said that with $1000 you can go 11's with a big intercooler, big boost, and slicks. Dad's regal has run a best of 11.44 @118 to date-bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, alky injection, drag radials. Those are real mean cars.

Nice Kill!

He never has had it on a dyno before. When he made his 11.44 pass the car was still the stock engine with a bolt on 60mm turbo, a 25 row intercooler, changed the valvesprings, airbags in the back, and the progressive spray alky system. On the way home from the track after running ~30 psi he took out the stock head gasket.

in 86\87 grand nationals were the fastest american production car. Putting down 13 second quater mile times and 0-60 in 5 seconds. For that year, those are damb inpressive numbers. Right, it doesn't take much to make these cars extremly fast. The only problem is tryin to keep them on the road, at least mine has a tendancy to break down quite a bit. Whenever I get my new turbo, the Mustang I have won't even compare to the National. There are lots of GN's out there that are still bone stock and aren't really that fast, so to you guys that beat them, that was probably what you raced. All I'm gonna say is, be careful around these beasts, lol. I just can't wait to get mine back on the road.

I don't like the GN's. They look like all the Rez rockets around here that the natives drive. Huge rear tires all year round, and mismatched rims.[:'(]

I finally get a chance to post in this forum. The Stang was in the Starbird show this weekend. When it was over there were close to a 1000 cars exiting expo square. It was an awesome sight and sound with a lot of the cars lighting them up when they got out of the building. On the way home a mint Grand National pulled up next to me at a light......we exchanged big grins and had a short go. I managed about a half a length on him from a dig to around sixty.Fun stuff

Damn! I forgot about the starbird show!! [][:@]

Good kill though! We'll have to line up at the track (on video of course) sometime this spring!
