I was driving home from Conroe when this older guy (about mid-40's) flies up to me ina light grey colored 6.0 GTO...he nails it so i do too but i am in 4th gear. he beats me by a couple car lengths and slows down to let me beside him...he give me the "bring it on" wave and laughs

this time, i dump it in 3rd and hit 6200 RPM's before shifting to 4th. i beat him by about 5 lengths...this guy has the nerve to come back and try 7 more times...same result every time.

finally, he just shakes his head, merges over to the slow lane and slows down. i guess he couldnt stand the thought of hisCorvetteengine gettingtaken by a "puney"4.6...i was so proud of my baby

 

That's a great story! I plan on getting headers soon, and hope to be doing the same.

 

That guy couldnt drive, the GTO should have pulled you even with your mods.

 

xbone, why don't you sell your s197 you always talk bad about the car you own.

First off with his mods he would be able tobeat a stock GTO I don't know what planet you are from, so stop bashing about how slow our car is in other posts and whatever it is you say and why other cars are either faster or better because it's really getting old.

Keerist, all i do is state the facts. The GTO is faster top speed and quarter mile than even a lightly modded GT. Those are just facts, so if a driver in a GT can take a GTO he is a more determined driver, thats all. I can dust as many Vettes around here as i want if they dont drop the hammer and mean it. Dont get your panties in a bunch mothsa, and try to keep away from solid objects.

 

alli have to say is that i am pushing 325HP/340TQ to the wheels...if this GTO was stock and auto (not sure if he was) and the GTOs are heavier, then i would beat him. you have to remember, i am running mid-12's in the quarter. also i have beaten every C5 vette i have raced except for one and he was a modded ZO6.

wasnt trying to stir up the crap pot here, just wanted to let you guys know that with a decent list of mods, these LS2's are beatable and for less money than they run stock.

 

How washemore determined in this encounter? From mac10chap's story, the GTO driver was very determined. Determined enough to try 7 more times and come up short each time.
