[>:]Well, I'm glad you got the kill, because I just posted one where this WRX did a flyby and then ran off the interstate while I was in the left lane. I wanted to spank him for not having an STI.

It is extremely expensive to modify Subarus. You don't want to know what my total bill is =P
Obviously, to put down numbers like yours its not going to be cheap. But i have always heard that turboed cars respond much better to bolt ons and with a turbo its as simple as a push of a button to increase boost. Now im not sure as to what it requires to increase boost and to what extent you can...that on the other hand may be expensive.
They're easy to mod with a MBC and exhaust and other little things you'll see some pretty good gains. The only problem is that once you max out the stock turbo the price for mods skyrockets

Basic boltons are cheaper than for 'stangs, but if you want to get serious with 'em they can be money pits. They'll pretty much always get you off the line, but they don't have that great of a top end. Just the trade off of AWD.

This is true

Here's a perfect example though. How much are new gears for a Mustang, like a couple hundred bucks? PPG straight cut 6 speed gears for the WRX or STi.... 7 fing grand! That's parts only, no installation.
Keep in mind though that you aren't comparing equal quality parts though. Those PPG's are top of the line stuff, whereas these $200 gears for the Mustang aren't anywhere near the quality level of the WRX gears.

When a car has mediocre stock parts, upgrades are cheap. When the stock parts are pretty good, you have to pay a lot more to actually get something that will increase performance.

Also true, however aren't there tons of Mustang guys running around on those reasonably priced gears with 500-600+rwhp? Do they even make gears that cost that much for 'Stangs? They very well may, I just haven't seen any.

WRX / STis also don't have many gear choices. A lot of people do STi Type RA gears, but IMO it's a waste of money because those are only slightly stronger than OEM STi gears. I know plenty of people that have shattered those. PPGs are absolutely worth the money as so far there have been no examples of broken gears, even with super high hp cars.

Well, most of the high horsepower cars I see have expensive parts throughout, gears and all. This cheap stuff is only good for so much power.

They are nice cars, def. I wouldnt mind an STI or Evo at all. But, yes, they are money pits.

WE can tune our car for about 300 bucks for a chip. THey have to buy Accessport or something similar for about 1k+. On a subie, you cant even put an intake and exhaust on w/o Accessport/something similar. My friend just went Stage I on his Rx, and he has Accessport, short shifter, and intake. To go to a Stage II tune, then he can put a turboback exhaust on it. They get bent over when it comes to mods because their ECU is so complicated. It will 'learn' their engine and that can lean it out or something unless they compensate for it. A mustang can get exhaust, intake, ignition, etc. w/o a tune. ONe will get maximum gains out of the mods but you can add a slew of mods and THEN tune.

My guess is he wasnt stock. The WRX is a turboed car. They are respectable and just like every other turbo car it is generally easy and cheap to increase performance.
Only the STI's are turbocharged. One of my friends has one and that thing just RIPS!

Nah, WRXs and STIs are both turbo'd........it's the RS that doesnt have one.

I love how the ride in them feels. The chassis is so stiff and tight! I'm a big fan of rally racing (WRC) and Subarus have been my long time favorite. I'd love to own a WRX.
