me and my little brother were driving to work and when we get to a light there was a silver STI sittin there I pull up next to him and was gettin all excited I"ve always wanted to race an evo or sti w/ the mods that I have to c how I would fare...so anyway I'm lookin over at the guy but he wont look back all he's doin is lookin forward w/ this big grin on his face lol ..so light turns green I wasnt gonna launch it so I krept and by the time I was a half of a car length on him ( I was rolling at 5mph and waiting until he took the bait) I heard his engine rev up and a few tire chirps later he was half a car on me I floored it by the time I was at the top of second his nose was at my door once I hit 3'd I was sayin bye bye but then he put on his blinker to get off the highway so Idk if he was giving it all he had ..it seemed that he shut down at 75 so Idk...

 

if he was stock, i wouldnt bee suprised if you took him from a roll. they put down about 240 from the factory. from a dig...thats another story.

 

we did start from a stop only he didnt go right away...right when I was half a car on him only goin 5mph waiting for him to hit it thats when he jumped a half a car in front...so I"m guessin he soft launched it....and the sti's run low 13's stock....and thats what I run...so yea if he launched higher it would have been a drivers race for sure...but sense he soft launched it was pretty easy

 

definately. just from your dyno numbers, i would guess you would beat him from a roll. and true, it is a drivers race between the two...but what race isnt?

Seems like stis are only really fast from a dig.

 

They trap at 103ish, right? That shows a good deal of power up top, too.

 

the 103 trap is pretty impressive considering the AWD drivetrain loss. the only problem is the stock turbo is horribly undersized. most of the sti guys only push about 350-360awhp from the stock setup. i hate that turbo. i did ride in my buddies car with that setup though, and it pulls as hard as a slightly modded cobra from a roll. trap around

My brother owns a 05 Suberu WRX STi

We havnt raced yet, but should be fun, ill get in for sure on the launch. You cant launch a STI hes tried it 100 times the car almost stalls out!!! He has to get it rollin first.

 

If hes only revvin like 3grand.... i've never driven one.. but i dont see what the complication is.. feather clutch at about 5500?? i think i would struggle a few times.... but would only take a few launches to get a decent hang of it.
