Default wrx,srt-4 or evo

sorry for asking this question in this section but i dont kow where else to post it. anyway i plan on getting a new car within the next year or so so i figured id start looking now...im stuck between the wrx srt4 and evo....i know the evo is the fastest one out of them but also the most expensive....i love the awd so i was thinking the wrx but they only run 14.4s and the srts are nice but there front wheel drive cars....does the wrx have any potential or am i going to have to dump thousnads of $ into it to run a good time?

You're going to have to dump a couple thousand into a WRX to make it a good deal faster unless you do some budget shopping. That said, it's a great car. The new ones have 2.5L engines as opposed to the old 2.0L and have even more potential than before. Supposedly the new WRXs have run close to mid 13s bone stock, which I've never personally seen so I can't attest to. I do know they have quite a bit of nice upgrades over the previous years (04-05) like I used to own (I had an 2004 stage 4 WRX)... including brake, tranny, and drivetrainupgrades that were much needed.

The SRT4s imo have a greater potential for cheaper power, but you run into the problem of FWD smokeshows. There's definitely something to be said for dropping the clutch in a modded WRX / STi in the rain or snow and having it hook up and ball out

EVOs also can get a ton of power pulled out of them for pretty cheap (my friend ran a 12.2 on a slipping clutch with about $1800 invested into his EVO MR), but they do start significantly higher in base price than either of the other two.

Definitely Evo. SRT4's are FWD and I'm not a big fan of high hp FWD cars. Evo's are crazy fast. You'll defintely like them.

not to mention, you cant buy a "new srt4" anymore...

i should also point out that when you talk about the evo, srt4, and wrx, the wrx is a base model compared to the other two...did you mean wrxSTi?

I thought I read that they weren't making the turbo Caliber AWD. I swear it said that there is a NA AWD Caliber but the turbo Caliber would still be FWD.

you are correct, FWD only... sad but true. The AWD system can't handle the torque...

STI or EVO. I am not a huge fan of the new look EVO, but it might grow on me.

maybe... i haven't read up on it in awhile. last i read it was gonna be turbo AWD. they may have changed it though. regardless.. the caliber is even worse looking than the neon.
