I was on the 5S going to Irvine and happened across a black E55 AMG with aftermarket exhaust and a bunch of decals. I normally hate stickers on cars, but this was a really nice car, and the 8-10 stickers on it were placed in an aesthetically pleasing way. The car sounded very nice too.

I get next to him and slow down, and he does the same. We made eye contact and I began the 3-honk and he took off...but stopped when he realized I hadn't. We got next to each other again, and slowed to about 50mph, just slow enough for me to drop to the top of 2nd.

I did the 3-honk, and he jumped the gun on the 3rd one, starting half a car ahead of me. I hit it, and we kept going until about middle of 4th gear for me (110mph). He pulled the whole way, and I was very disappointed, this being my first loss in probably six months (not that I race all that much anyway though).

He finished with 1.5-2 car lengths of space between his back bumper and my front...so it was a clear victory for him, though not a complete blowout. He had his girlfriend in the car with him, and I had my 200lb friend with me. I also had my stereo in (200-250lb), and sound deadened (about 50lbs worth) my car two days ago. For some reason, I also had the A/C on at the time, which didn't help at all.

I ran fairly wellagainst an E55 AMG a couple years ago with fewer mods, but a lot less weight, and lost by about 1 car length on a 40-100 run. I'm confident that without the 500lbs + 20s + A/C on, I could have beat him. But alas, that was not the case, and I had to deal with the blow to the ego.

Wow, talk about a lame dig race for the cobra driver.

 

With some real tires and not those Nitto "drag radials"....(their actually just really nice street tires) the Cobra would've won. He always caught up at the end. Well except for that 1st run in the 2nd video...my god that launch was horrible

my neighbor has a cl 55 amg and that thing is def. quick....take it as you can keep up with something that's 2-3 times the price of your car and you have all that extra money to make it faster than a E....

about the video. that cobra is DEFINETELY a faster car but couldn't hook. on the second race he hooked better and the e55 amg had like less than a car on him. and everyone saw, e55amg hooked like a ****.
