Default Bracket racing today

Went out and raced for some money today at the strip, had a good day but came up short [sm=smiley19.gif] ... for some reason it was 1/8 racing (darn, the only reason I went was for my 11 second slip... but I was already there so I said *** it I'll run)...

Warmup pass:
R/T ..... .035
60' ...... 1.847
330 ..... 5.174
1/8 ...... 7.846
MPH ..... 92.28

Run for some money, 1 pass best one wins (I have no clue how I lost )
DIAL = 7.95
R/T ..... .059
60' ...... 1.874
330 ..... 5.244
1/8 ...... 7.956
MPH ..... 91.03

First round of Eliminations:
DIAL = 7.95
R/T ..... .073
60' ...... 1.889
330 ..... 5.234
1/8 ...... 7.927 <<<<< LOST, broke out
MPH ..... 91.77

Opponent cut a .076 light and ran a 7.63 on a 7.63 dial in (perfect btw)
just no luck, I tried to beat him as little as possible but he just ran dead on it

Ok back to crying over my lost $60 now

My guess is you lost because your reaction time was also factored into the "best" run, which around here is called the bogey race, where the best package of reaction time without going red and the ET compared to the dial without breaking out is added up. you pay $5 and split the pot with the track racers' fund and if you win the bogey, you get the bye run in the first round of eliminations. your package was .059 + .006 = .065. that ain't bad, but it can't compete with the best packages which are typicall less than .015 around here!
looks like that SC really kicks in around 300 feet or so based on comparing your times with mine. I've got you by .010 at 60' but you've got me by .020 at 330' and the margin grows from there on out!
keep practicing on the tree and you'll get better with time! LOL

Yes it did factor in the reaction time, but the class I was racing was more like the "weekend worriors", not the pros (that was another class). I saw most of the folks run and their were a few tight runs and a few good lights but none that I saw I thought would beat me. The couple that ran tight with me were slow off the tree. I figured I had a 50/50 shot... it just sucks to waste a tight run with descent (not great) light.

And yea it takes me about 100 feet to get the rev's up because I have to launch at 2300 rpm (was 2200 with the 4.10's), and I have to granny shift second to keep traction. My times look all whacked out... using the "generally accepted" 1.56 x 1/8th to calculate 1/4 time that 7.95 would be a 12.4 in the 1/4 ... but that woulda been a 12.0 run or better. My first run woulda definately been in the 11's - maybe even all three. I'd run slicks but Im afraid of breaking something, and I like running at the track in street trim - kindof a sense of pride
