i drive and 05 GT thats auto w/ OD and ive heard that the car is faster off the linethan when in O/D than when its in regular drive, ive also heard it the other way around (faster in regular drive No O/D) i was just wondering which one was correct- if there was a difference at all. Thanks!

Most people will say to never race in O/D. What I never understood is that every automatic car I've ever driven(all Japanese if that matters) will downshift when you go WOT whether or not the O/D is on or not so it didn't make a difference at all. Maybe someone else with a Ford auto can chime in.

The OD will only kick in when it is needed, which is never if you are racing at WOT.

All O/D does is save gas on the freeway (4th gear on autos).....Your tranny will start in first gear and go through the progressive gears from there whether O/D is on or not..
