my 1997 GT with Magnaflow Mufflers vs. Lexus IS 300


SPECS on the Lexus IS 300

Engine Type - 3-liter inline 6-cylinder, DOHC Cast iron block and aluminum heads. Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence (VVT-i).
Horsepower - 215 @ 5,800 RPM
Torque - 218 @ 3,800 RPM
Transmission - Five Speed Electronic Automatic with E-Shift steering wheel controls
Curb Weight - 3,270

+1 you should have it in the bag with a manual and good driving. Now an automatic....eh not too sure

Well it'll be close but with a manual you'll win but not by too much.

I dont think you have it anywhere close to 'in the bag'. You have a torque advantage, he has a 200 lb weight advantage.

Also, his transmission is going to shift perfectly... while if you're a manual you will not. If you have an auto, his auto will own yours. It's a 5 speed auto > 5 speed manual; in a race.

Que? New Edges weigh 32xx and the SN95 should be slightly lighter. Both cars weigh the same. Same HP and a 72 tq advantage.

You can't launch a stock auto like you can a manual. If he can drive he will win. Now if he has an automatic racing might not be a good idea

we are both AUTOMATICS bah!! all is 300s are AUTOs i belive.

with an automatic u would lose. if u have a 5 spd then it would be a drivers race.

i think that the Is300s are only like mid to low 15s? ive only seen one in "Stock" form (cai/exhaust) and he was only in the mid 15s. i would hope that the mighty mustang, automatic or not, would be able to muster a mid 15 second run.
