I was driving home late last night.In my rearview mirror a newer Camaro SS comes roaring up behind me and then swithes lanes to get next to me.I slow from 50mph down to around 30 to see if he wanted to play.Sure enough he revs his engine(Sounded nice)I punch it and put a car and a half on him up to about 70 mph.Given that I jumped first(I gave him another shot when we caought a light a mile up.We both launch pretty well I have my all season pirreli's on for the winter so I had some spin.He put a 1/4 car on me instantly.I chirp second gear and pull even.When I shut down at 80mph I had almost a full car on him maybe more.Car did not sound stock.I've lined up against alot of GTO's and TA's LS engines ant the track but this was my first run in with the Camaro.What engine is in the Camero SS ?

Depends what year. They had an SS in 97' I believe that was beefed up by SLP and sold at Chevy dealers. It had the LT1 engine. The more common is the 98-02 SS which had the Ls1 engine.....and its Camaro btw bro

Thank's.This car was no joke I've raced alot of LT1's at the track this was no LT1.If it was a stock LS1 my respect for that motor has jumped 10 fold.

)i raced an 05' GT with CAI, tune and catback, i was stock, i took him by about 2 cars

BTW, the SS was most likely stock if it wasn't I don't think you would'of made up the ground you lost on the take-off...

. I didnt pay too much for it and i got my money back so it was no big deal... if i ever get another F body it would have to be a Black T/A Ws6
