@failurze_art: Exactly and because of that fake feeling of safety (or power), they tend to do things they'll regret later on, but at that point in time, where they should consider what they're doing, they are so cool (they think) that they'll end up making mistakes......... sooner or later (and I hope I won't be around when that happens)
@carmanwelder: I moved over from Europe just a while ago and must say the following:
Over there, when a car comes close (not that close but, you know when)... you just let him pass and continue your daily business. Over here I noticed that rearly anybody is using the rearview mirror and basically looking just in front of them. Which is kinda safe, but kinda dangerous, 'cause you don't see the traffic behind you.
Therefor, I don't like cars behaving like you described at all, but sometimes.... I @#$@$# get mad at people who have no clue whatsoever they're doing on the road and just are basically doing everything except paying attention to the traffic, and if they stay on their lane without looking around them ('cause they're blocking other drivers) just by hanging aside the car next to them at them same speed..... damn.
I had the opinion that the left lane was used for passing other cars, not for falling asleep...
I'll better stop now, I know my driving skills are far from perfect, but boy oh boy... there are people out there far more worse than me...
anyway, watch out what you do with those kids. Since it's not always there car and maybe more perfomant then they're used to... it can cause some serious sh#t

Not to perpetuate an argument, but sunday drivers **** me off. I wouldn't go so far as to swerve and tailgate the hell out of the people, but being as impatient as I am, I get pretty pissed off when someone in front of me is clearly going to disrupt the flow of the freeway when they finally merge in doing 50 mph in a 65 zone. It may be because I am 25, or because I live in Tucson whereone of the largest roads is a 35zone for most of the city (not to mention it's name is Speedway...go figure),but if you aren't doing at least the speed limit, you had better have a baby on board!

I've live in Spain 3yrs, Italy 3yrs, Netherland 1.5 yrs, and Germany 1.5 yrs. Europeans seem to have a code, when you see someone coming up on your *** move over and let them pass. Driving over here in the good old USA there seems to be less and less respect for the other drivers on the road. It's all about me here, screw anyone else on the road, they shouldn't be driving in the first place. Going the speedlimit or higher on the onramp to the thruway deserves no punk A** kid treating the other driver the way he did. I do agree though with some of your other points.

I hate it when I see a young punk in daddys car running up the street tailgaiting cars trying to intimidate them into pulling over so they can race past them. But that's exactly what happened yesterday on the way to work. A punk in a Cadillac CTS on the onramp of the thruway was ahead of me intimidating, tailgating, swerving side to side,as if to tell the person in front of him "get the hell out of my way". That really ticked me off, so as we merge onto thehgwy I thought what the hell I'll give him a message and see if he likes it. He passes the car ahead and I rode the CTS's *** till there was enough room to go to the right lane and in third gear just smoked by him. While I was passing him I could see him shrink down into the seat putting his head down and trying no to look over to me. After I passed he slowed, I slowed to 70 and it was another couple of miles before he dared to pass me. I let him by and saw the same reaction as the first time I passed him. I shouldn't have done what I did, but these type of drivers really **** me off.
Ya I hate stupid people too, its a good thing you took this kind of action, man you really patroled the streets and did you best to take a threat off the streets. Stupid people owning cars above thier IQ level or thought function is terrible. I know that he was in Daddys car and way to young to understand what a silly act he was pulling, so you straightened him right out, he'll never do this again.
Its a good thing this knuckle didn't havegun. or worse yet follow you into your job (McDonalds) and teach you a lesson.
Not only do I work at Mcdonalds, I own one and probably employ you!!!! BTW nice V6 Pony!

Yeah, try getting out there on a motorcycle sometime and see how poorly people drive. On a bike, its like you have a big target on your back at times.

I know, I own a 03 Suzuki intruder 1400 and a 05 Vmax, I make sure I leave plenty of room ahead and scan pretty far down the road as well as behind.

Woohoo....Vmax!!!

Have you seen the new v-max concept bike?

Yeah, I always try to find "pockets" between the traffic and keep a good distance between whats in front and behind me too.

It is not a code, it is the European law, left lanes are for passing only, it is forbidden to pass a car on your left, which is the reason the far left lane is most of the times free.
When I was younger and being tailgated by one of these morons I used to accelerate, and then hit the brakes hard for a split second while keeping the foot on the gas, usually that was enough to scare them, but sometimes ended in real fights, it is no fun anymore, I know better now, so either I just move away or if I want to “fight” I just stay on the lane and pay no attention to tailgaters they usually get more upset about it. If I need to pass someone moving too slowly, I just pass them at the first opportunity without cursing or upsetting the other driver, I don’t know if its grandma at the wheel or just someone scared to drive, or whatever and they do have the same right I have to use the hwy.

In todays society, when things "escalate", you never know if someone is going to pull out a gun. You never know if they also have the ***** to pull the trigger.

And I'm finding more and more it is these rich kid types with mommy and daddy's credit card in their back pocket and Ludacris blairing on there stereo that are the worst ones.

I was at a party last week and a gun got pulled over a game of cards. Two little white"frat" boys with there ballcapson sideways got in an argument and the next thing you know.....everybodies running.

Back in my day there was more respect. What the hell happened in the last 10 years?
Amen.
