(I drive a 67 mustang with a 302)
so the other night (friday) i was on my way home from a friends house. it was about 2 30 am so there was not many people out and i take a main street home rather than the freeway because it runs straight to my house pretty much. so im just cruisin, doin about 45 and the dart comes up on me, hes not speeding, just cruising too. so i already want to run this guy to see how i stack up but i dont want to just take off all crazy and cuz he may not want to run. so i speed up a lil bit, to about 60 and he catches up and stays even with me. so we pull up to a red and he revs it. now hes in the slow lane and im in the fast lane and there is a 350z in the middle of us. so i put my car in first and when it turns green i fkn launched, smoked the dart and the z by about 5 cars, it was like they wernt trying, so i thought, well maybe they didnt know i was gona take off but they know now. so we pull up to another red and same thing, took both of them off the line no problem, it was wierd i thought. anyways the zturns and me and the dart pull up to another red, he tells me nice car and this n that and asks what im running. i told him just a 302 with the auto c4 tranny. he said he had a 383 and when i heard that i was pretty proud. but i think it was stock. i havnt done much to my car, just power pulleys, electric fan, holley 600cfm 4 barrel, posi, traction bars, edlebrock performer, aluminum driveshaft, and i put a shift kit in with trans cooler and a hurst ratchet shifter. it was one of my proudest moments in the stang, beating a dart even if it was stock.

thats impressive man! i got raped the other night by a modded one with a 340(i think thats what it was) yeah, m ycars slow but it looks cool![8D]

 

im not positive what year it was, but if i had to guess i would say it looked like a 69-71

 

my dad has a 69 dart with a modded 440...............not a 340 lol

but after 1969 they changed the looks of the darts so 70 and 71 doesnt look anything like a 69

 

yeah...the 383, if stock, would have been in a pre-1970 dart, as the later darts didnt have a big block option, i believe. they are light and pretty healthy...tha must have been a fun race to watch...very "old school"...[8D]
