I had my son in the car and we were just cruising in the Z06. I was coming up an a light that just was turning red when I looked in my rear view to see a real clean blackC5 zomming up behind me. The lane to my left was clear and he jumps over. We both had our windows down and I told him nice car. It sounded freakin' mean. It was extremely loud for a 'Vette. He said he saw the same car on route 84 yesterday, referrning to my car. I told him I had been doing a lot of driving and that is was probably me. He then says that it was girl driving. [&:] I've never seen a chick driving a C6 Z06. Anyway, as I am telling him it wasn't me then the light turn green and we start rolling. All of a sudden he just stomps on it. He got a good second and a half jump before I realized it was "go time". So I put the pedal to the floor and by the time I banged 2nd he was about 2 cars behind me. I then jumped onto the on ramp to a major highway and he followed me. This time I was ready and I kept it in 2nd while I was getting ready to merge. I heard him in a low gear as well. As soon I could, I slammed the pedal to the floor and shifted into 3rd at 6800. I had put about 5 cars on him. Then we bother see a State Trooper with someone pulled over and we both shut down. So now I am just cruising at 70 or so and he pulls up nex to me and was saying something. How he thought I could hear him at 70 with his exhaust was beyond me. I think he was asking how much horsepower I had, which was a bit confusing since any 'Vette owner should know what a C6 Z06 has stock. So I just shook my head like, "I can't hear a damn word your saying" and tuned my attention to the road. So he just cruised in front of me for a mile or two and he decided to hit it again. This time I just let him go. Judging from how fast (or rather slowly) he pulled away, I would have murdered him had I gone with him. I think he was some guy that threw an exhaust on his C5 and thinks it the cat's *****. It looked really good with chrome wheels and a spoiler. I really don't think he knew what a Z06 was.

And meantime the whole while my son was begging me not to race. He was afarid I was going to get arrested. Smart kid - bad example by me.

 

Thats pretty funny. Not trying to rag on vette owners but it hink it seems like SOME people who drive expensive cars think that since they dropped 70K+ on their car that they are the fastest thing in the land. Last weekend when going to Baytown for FFW this guy in a C5 vette saw me looking at him and punched it. He was even eyeing my friend down in his 03 cobra. I was like is this guy serious? My friend never hurt his feeling with traffic being conjested but on the way back he did break it hard to a guy on a crotch rocket that he messed with the wrong car.

BTW that yellow is sick ****! That thing looks good.

I've been around cars long enough to know that you are never guaranteed anything. Christ, I am sure there are plenty of modded Cobras that would make my life miserable. The only time I feel like I am "The ****" is on the highway at 80+ Drop it into 3rd, stomp the gas and there aren't too many cars that are going to hang with you. The car is at its best at high speed. Pulls as hard at 80 as my blown Mustang did from a dig. It just snaps you back into the seat. It's pretty wild.

 

Oh yeah my buddy raced an 06 Z06 and he got walked on. Although the car has a high tab on it its a bad **** car. If i had the money i would have one in my drive. I think for an 03 cobra to beat one it has to have the works. The shelby may be a diffrent story but i havent seen to many of those things running around with KBs.

 

Every vette that I have seen absolutly do not want to race. They just drive on and ignore me.

 

You better have left some stuff out of your mod list if you are looking to race 'Vettes. Like a blower or nitrous. Otherwise it would be the proverbial ***-whooping.

 

na i got what my mods say. but when i rev it next to them and they keep a straight face. im always like wtf. I have never even got so much as a half glance. o well guess thats just the way things are.

 

late 70s and early 80s vettes would be good vettes for him to go out and beat [:'(]

 

Lets face it, Stock C5=350HP (13.0-12.7), C6 Z06=500+HP (sub 11 sec's).

C6 Z06 is a Supercar.

Maybe that's why you won.
