Another Launching Thread...
Whats the current opinions on launching an auto with a stock stall and street tires?
Weather permitting I'll be making my first appearance at GIR tomorrow night.

my opinion is, as always, to buy better tires...but everyone knows that...
seriously though, i think that your "best" launch is going to vary depending on the car, and the track on that given day. a very well prepped track is going to allow you to come out a little harder, and while its a huge pain in the *** to "learn" to launch every time you go to the track, that is what i would suggest. i dont know what the stock stall rpm is on your car, but im guessing that its around 2000? maybe 1800? i would suggest trying to bring it up around the stall rpm, but when you launch, dont just hammer and hope..try babying it out a bit, and once youre rolling, step into it.

I'm not sure if you're having traction issues now.But if you aren't you won't even need a sticky tire at the track. I've got a 3000 rpm stall and I tried a few different methods of launching at the track last friday. The way that netted me the best E.T.'s was to just load the converter up as far as you can and launch the sun of a gun.

put the car in neutral, bounce it off the rev limiter for a good couple seconds to get 'er ready, then when it goes green, drop it to drive!! simple as that.

My tires are good street tires...but I don't know how they will react to the track. BUT...I am getting owned by the weather today anyway. This bumps my track debut date to God-knows-when. [&o]
