Get a set of 3.73 gears some drag radials and a 3500 rpm stall torque converter. The converter will make a tremendous difference.

you shouldn't have lost to 98 z28 if it was stock and auto i don't think,it had quite a few mods to have 450hp.
With an LS1 and a few mods? Easily lost.
stock to stock the Z would win.

No stock motor runs that kind of HP from the factory esp from that year. It is obvious that he modded the car and you should be proud that you lost by only one car length.

i should have LT headers ordered by this week.. money isnt really an option except the f/i and cams are tough to talk the paretns into and nitrous they just dont like.. he says its stock but also says its pushin 450 hp? so i honestly couldnt tell ya.. but its an auto

If he really had 450hp, you would have lost by like 10 lengths, not 1. He was probably stock or maybe had exhaust, but they can run 13.1-13.3 stock, but with an auto and almost 10 years old, he probably would run 13.4-13.6 in the 1/4 mile. With your mods I'd say you probably should have won, but nice death anyways.

Talking from experience..Stock for stock the Z28 will show taillights to an auto S197, I did a couple of 13.5s with my Z28 stock, those cars put down 280-290rwhp.

There are auto S197's running 13.5-13.6 stock. And there have been many S197's with a5spd manual running 13.3-13.4, which can beat an LS1 if the manual driver is sh*tty or its an auto.

Maybe it was just me feeling the extra torque from an extra 69cubes.

I have already tried beating a stock Z28... that works... but 450 auto Z28... ? The gears, torque converter, driveshaft, LT headers and X... a lotta stuff you could do to get some hp or just make your car drive better (TC)
