I saw your sig in many, many posts yesterday. Then on my way home, I saw an Acura TL-S driving crazy through traffic. He was cutting people off with his big sedan. I caught up to him and it was some kid with a backwards cap. I didn't want him racing anymore, because we know how dangerous it is. I figured he would stop if I showed him how slow he was. So at 80mph in a 55 zone, I dropped to 3rd gear and left him like he was standing still. I stopped accelerating at 105, and put it in 5th. When he caught up to me cuz he was still racing, I put it in 4th and pulled on him some more. He didn't seem to learn. I stopped racing before we caught up to more traffic, but he tried to race through it, because someone in a pick-up truck with altezzas decided to follow us, and wanted to continue the race as well. They didn't get anywhere trying to race in traffic, and soon they had to admit it was over. The whole event made me think about you and your signature, Jeep. Now tell everyone how much you hate me because I am so dumb and yadda yadda yadda.<edited><editID>spkr_diy</editID><editDate>37862.6013310185</editDate></edited>

105 mph.....crazy

Ask 'em to back up their ride at the track so you have indesputable proof of who won the race.......and maybe they'll realize how much more they can race at a track than on the street.

Not to mention never having to look over your back for a cop in the rear view.

I think I'll sum up my final reply to this topic like this:

Be a man and don't sink down to their level. It takes no courage to say yes to something as childish as that, and it shows no responsibility acting as you did.

that is a great story spkr_diy. Very proactive approach in attempting to put an end to this street racing thing. I am sure you will be much more at ease showing at least two people how stupid it is. Think of the lives you saved.</P>

And you can multiply the number of lives tenfold. I was thinking of your post when all of the sudden an Accord AND a Stratus went flying by me. The first time they went by I was upset, but I let them go. About 6 or so miles down the road, there were two cars with their hazards on sitting on the shoulder. I passed them, thinking nothing of it. Then they came flying up again about 5 minutes later and flew by me. I thought to myself, 'Dammit, I'm going to save lives!'. I dropped to 4th and punched it. Caught them shotly thereafter, running about 105 or so. To let them know what they were doing was wrong, I wagged my finger at them Dikembe Mutombo style then slowed some. They also slowed some and started revving their motors next to me and turning on their hazards. I laughed. They did not look happy. So I honked and waved again. At this they took off. I caught them again and wagged my finger at them. Then I took off on them and got a good distance ahead. They never did catch back up so I think my lesson was impressed upon them.</P>

And now I beam because I saved lives. Wow, I owe you one.</P>

Thanks again!</P><edited><editID>frostymug</editID><editDate>37865.9935300926</editDate></edited>

The other day I realized that my speedo is horribly inaccurate at the high end. I set my speed limiter to 127 and when I was going 127 on my speedo it cut out. I found it quite fascinating because the speedo is within 2mph at 50, but gets more and more inaccurate from there. Oh, you see, somebody put gears in the car and the speedo gear wasn't changed, so the speed sensor reads +20%. While the speedo shows 50 I'm actually moving 48 (and the speed sensor reads almost 60), but when the speeed sensor reads 127, my speedo shows 127, but I'm really only going about 106? That can't be right.
I figure I've saved lives by knowing my speedo is off.
