Thanks. I try my best to take care of it.
I hear a lot of good stuff about 4.10 gears, I think you might be right on those being a good investment..How much do they usually cost?

For the gears itself, usually around $200 or so, but the install is what kills you, which it is usually between $300-500.

Thanks for the info. Silver. Hey, I can actually afford that upgrade. Would this be an all day job for a mechanic?

Mechanic, and a very respectable one at that. Some mechanics have been known to just hurry up and throw them in, then you have major, irritating gear whine. Go to a shop you can trust and that others have been for gears.

I just test drove a Cobalt SS......actually...

And if you're gonna beat him, just make sure you out launch it... talk about torque steer.. lol

but they do pull respectably for a small car such as it is....more so up higher in the powerband than down low..

Good drivers put them in mid 14's, while I have personally seen/heard about several in the low to mid 15's bone stock at the track with your average kid going out and trying them out.

I just came from having a SS/SC, I had almost every bolt on possible. The car made around 280-290whp and i would run circles around lightly moded GT's. As for stock the car actually is under rated and they dyno in about 210-220whp (every car is diff). There first gear sucks ***!! absolutly no traction so if you to off the line you have him but if its from a roll and he can drive half decent it will be very close.

I don't know about it pushing 220 horses stock, I know as a fact that the Supercharged 2.0 Liter Cobalt stock pushes 205.

I spend a lot of time at the race track and have an You should win this one. I've never been impressed by the Cobalt in it's stock form. I have a personal friend that has one with alot of mods that has ran a 12.8@110 so they can be nasty with a little work.

The motor is under rated. And yes it does push 210-220whp stock! If you go onto the forums and you can see for your self, plenty of dyno sheets to prove it. Not trying to start anything. I loved that car and it was stolen. I know what they are capable of. They have a turbo swap kit, twin charge kit out currenty and they are in the middle of development for a whipple twinscrew.

Wow, didn't think one could break 13 seconds on the quarter...Although I'm not badly concerned, I know this guy could'nt afford any powerful mods with his wages. I'll hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
NICE Srt-4!!
