Camaro vs Mustang in the twisties?
Do u guys think the 02 camaro z28 could out perform a 02 Stang GT in the twisties w/ cornering etc.? My brother thinks that the z28 is better in the twisties cuz of weight balancing.
I was under the impression the camaro and mustang have the same weight distribution. That and they both have a solid rear axle. Also the f-bodies are longer and heavier than the 99+ mustang GT. Not to mention the added torque of the LS1 would hurt twisty performance. I'd guess it would be really close but the mustang GT would edge a z28

IMO it'll ALL depends on the driver more so than the car itself.

Extra torque will hurt cornering? uh... the extra torque would help get the car through the exits faster if the driver knows how to take advantage of it.
IMO it'll ALL depends on the driver more so than the car itself.

340+ torque on street tires while rounding a corner would HELP? Even with my mustang pushing the gas around a hard turn will put me sideways in a hurry,I can't imagine a solid rear axle car with more torque being able to handle well around turns

edit -> before I get called out, note the STREET tires designation, thanks

You're not putting the pedal to the metal on a road course all the time, it's not 1320 dragging... As you approach the corner you'll want to be on the outside of the apex on your brakes to get down to the proper entry speed, as you go into the corner you want to go from the outside to the inside lightly applying the throttle, get yourself in a nice smooth curve lightly feathering the throttle, as you apex stay on the gas lightly and as you exit you straighten out and mash the gas in the straightaway.
Like I said it ALL depends on the driver, not the car he's driving.

the way they sit, I'd say he'd be able to get the Maro through the corners faster. Jut depends on how well he takes advantage of the torque and if he knows how to counter body roll.
Put and 03 Cobra vs an 02 SS and the Cobra will take the SS.
