Default Help!!!!!!

Ok so lastnight i took my 2001 3.8L v6 automatic with a cold air intakeout to the track cause my friend has been bugging me to race him.I was so sad with my time the best i had was a 17.663 @ 80.012mph. So i looked at his times and we were pretty close. so we raced. I lost to a scion tc. Can anyone help with suggestions how i can lower that time if even a few tenths of a second! Thanks oh PS id anyone here has suggestions for how to launch in an automatic it would be helpful thanks again.

Default RE: Help!!!!!!

The best way to launch an auto is hold the brake with your left foot, while applying the throttle with the right. Give the car enough throttle that the rear tires start to spin. Let off the pedal just enough that the car isnt spinning anymore. This is where you want to launch at the track. When the light turns green, let off the brake and hit the gas. This will take some practice so you know how hard to stab the throttle without spinning off the line. Depending on how much power you have and the condition of your tires, you might be able to hit WOT or you might have to ease into it a little.

Launching like this helps get the engine closer to its powerband. you will have less time in the lower rpm range where the motor doesnt make much power.
