Default Trans Am Kill

So i was driving around town and hit a red light and a 90's GTA trans am rolls up. I look over and the guy starts reving it up so I figure why not no cars in sight. Light turns green and the trans am jumps off the line but it was very short lived.I passed and pulled away from the TA. Prob got about 1 car length on it then shut down and he did a flyby.

Im not sure if it was because my car is faster or if that car is having engine problems because that car has the 5.7l in it does it not? Anyway it was a fun kill and I enjoyed every second of it.

It depends.

If it's a pre-93 Firebird, there's a very good chance that it had the 305 (which is the GM 5.0 of the '80's), in which case it sounds fairly reasonable that you would have walked away from it.

However, if it was anything after '93, then it had a 5.7 LT1 *if it was indeed a v8 version* in which case I'd be VERY surprised if you managed any type of kill on it.

The story on a LT1 is that most New Edge GT drivers claim a drivers race with the edge to the GT, while the LT1 owners claim it's more along the lines of the race being the LT1 drivers race to win or lose if the GT is properly driven.

Times range anywhere from 13.8-14.4's depending on who you ask.

Good kill though.

i pretty sure its the L98 5.7L something like 300torque 230 hp.. Something along those lines. But thank you anyway it was a fun kill tho. It was even more fun then killing the 2003 Thunderroad hemi truck.

Thats why i was asking if the engine was sick or not. Cuz when he reved it up it sure rumbled like a 350 but it wasn't hauling like a 350. andI did end up mettingwith the guy later and he said its getting old and its an auto. and i got a look under his hood and it indeed was a 5.7. I think his tranny is going tho cuz its clunking real hard. when shifting gears.

it could have been a late 80's gta. Look online and find out what it looked like. If it was an 80's GTA, its definately a beleivable kill. My friend has one of the non-gta trans ams and it is not fast at all (his is an 88 in GREAT condition).

Wow you're good...you can tell a 5.7 from a 5.0 just by looking at it. Did you check the casting numbers...because the 5.0 and 5.7 look identical on the outside. The 5.7 L98 would've walked you pretty good IMO....especially if it has bolt-ons

Either way nice kill

You should have beat him, those things arent that fast. All the GTA's had 350's, the rest had 305's. And they were all automatics.

A stock 90 GTA with a 350 would be lucky to break into the 14's. An S197 V6 should have an advantage over one.
