We were at the somersnite cruise in somerset ky last night, me and the girl were sittin at a red light and a guy in a late 80's early 90's camaro pulls up (one with the 305), revs up and asks me if i wanted to run and i just nodded and said sure. we stayed about even until i got to about 4,000 in 1st and when i hit second i pulled by about a car or so. Pretty fun kill, and only my second kill, ive got a record of 1-2 atleast i have a winning record lol

 

Shouldnt suprise you on the outcome of that race. Those 305's are slow.......I think fred flintstone could have outran one [&:]

Your race is very typical of racing the 3rd gens, especially if it was the TPI motor. They have a lotof low end torque and fairly quick off the line, but their power dies just above 4k rpm.

 

yea, i did expect to beat it. The 305's arent much. but im also bone stock, and a convertible.

 

I thought the 305's were like 16 sec cars

The throttle body injection version is a 16 second car, the tuned port injection runs 15s.

yea, he was alright. We had fun. That was one of two races that night and all were wins but the others were against two 289's one was a 66 and other was a 67. but they werent much to brag about lol they were more like bus length wins. Then there was a guy in a eclipse that revved up and asked me to run him and before i could even say anything my girlfriend said "well if ya wanna lose" and he said "i bet ive got more money in my car" she said "i bet we have more horse power" lol i bout died...she gets into it.
