so a buddy of mine and i are coming home after a couple cigars in my 2001 V6 and this neon is next to us at the light. he gave no indication that he wanted to race(which a race would be a joke in the first place). so the light turns green and i'm not looking to go anywhere fast but he just takes off. i look at my buddy and asks if that guy is serious and take off. I pass him without effort and start to slow down because he is not accelerating anymore.

i get to another light and am dead stop. the neon is coming up on me and the light turns green so he doesnt slow down. i take off match his speed and pass him before he can get around me, and he was accelerating (we could hear his engine revving high) and block him in behind a tow truck.

i dont know if this guy seriously thought he could beat me or what but we got a good laugh out of it.

btw. i believe he was completely stock and so am i

 

Do you remember which year neon? I ran one that was in the mid 90s-ish at the track....the dude went in the 19.0s at 56 mph

 

I used to own a '96 Neon...
The engine would stall when going up hills...
The engine would overheat if I drove it for more than 30 mins.
I raced a F-250 with a trailer and family in it...and lost
I bought the car for $1400, and it got totalled by an old man, insurance gave me $2000 for it
