I don't get why people say the slow! Stock for stock 06GT vs GTO from a dead stop in the 1/4 mile with perfect drivers in each (in amake-believe world) we can't win, but then again who leaves it stock.

 

if it didnt have the hood scoops it was a ls1.....the ls1's also didnt come with dual exaust. either way nice kill!

 

Did he run over a cat or something? That was a little too close to be considered a kill IMO. Especially since it was a 1 win / 1 loss run.

You are seriously in love with your engine aren't you? You seem to defend anything with the LS1 in it. Sad.

 

It's bad you feel that way for me. It's really heartfelt, I can tell. I can't remember reading a thread on here about any s197 losing to a GTO. Hell, Sleeper has outran cam/nitours/heads/intake/etc....LSx anything in a bolt-on s197. I could care less about a GTO...I think they're nice family rides for the daddy that wants a peppy car.

Facts are facts though....I took my "slowest year" LS1 and ran faster than any non/aspirated s197 on this site with just exhaust/dr's/stall. Yet you guys expect me to believe, even after seeing the trap speeds for both cars, that you can hang with a modified ( in this case) GTO from a roll? I mean, if you have any facts to backup anything you say, I'd love tosee it.

 

Hay 98ls1. The ls1 are faster than s197's but ive raced 3, 2 couldnt drive at all. I think it takes skill to drive it right. the ls1 camaros and trans am's are beasts especially from a roll. I love ls1's i wanted one but ended up with an s197. I like both stangs and camaros. Ive raced stangs too they did good but I raced 2 camaros 2 lost to my 300c because they sucked at driving and i mean suckeddd One guy lost by half a car and my 300c is slower than my s197. I chased a trans am withmy gtif we were racing side by side he would have had 1 1/2 and we were only in 3rd we went from a 2nd gear roll and I know he atleast had exausts. Ls1's are monsters but the ppl who ive raced sucked at driving them. Friend of mine has a cousin with a trans am. He is a perfect driver if i raced him from a roll he would kill me he makes it seem like its automatic. I know him and 1 other guy that can drive an ls1 perfect. The both dont peel out at all. It sucks off launch because they try not topeel out but once he hits second he pulls like a motherF***er. I raced my friends g35 with my stang end of first i have a car on him end of second its almost 2 cars. We raced a ls1 with a great driver we went dead even with the ls1 with the g 1st gear but once he hit second he has 2 cars on us he didnt bother hitting 3rd. Ls1's great cars. Stangs great potential. Anything can happen in the street.

I can tell you for a fact where there is a GTO that would win in this forum. My neighbor across the street has a new blue one and that thing is smokin fast. I wouldnt ask him to race because it would be a complete waste of both our times and gas.[&:]

 

Perhaps the average GTO owner needs to sharpen his launch skills, visit the GTO forums, they kill everything including LS1 SS Camaro's like they were nuthin.
Could be it was because its a GTO forum? Nah...

 

I feel you. I read races that people say they win and then I go out and race the same car and I get beat down. There is a guy who works across the road from me and I want to race him. If I get the chance to race him ill get a vid so the truth can be known. BTW its a LS1 GTO.
