Default ME vs 2004 Tiburon

ok....i'm a little sad about my cars performance against a freakin tiburon...i mean, theyre nice cars...but got damn my car was just sad....

ok, so this is the deal:

ME 2004 V6 Mustang
5MT
-BBK CAI

vs

this guys 2004 GT V6 Tiburon
Auto
-Stock

well, i saw the guy on the freeway and he was ****ing around with a stupid little chrysler pt cruiser (i laughed hard on the inside when i saw that thing speeding) so i catch up to the guy and take the exit he takes. i pull up next to him and said "dude, ur car is pretty quick. what u got under the hood?" and he tells me its stock. so i'm thinking "wow, thats not bad for stock" so i cruise along side the guy and chat it up a bit about what year it was and so on. a few lights later we decide to see how are cars do against each other so at first, we kinda get stuck in a little bit of traffic so he pulls up behind me and keeps up so we turn the corner and the street is completely empty but there are lights

so we wait for a red. 2 lights later we get one and lined up. the light was quick so it caught me off guard and he took off pretty quick...(and on a side note...i hate my first and second gear...i feel no power what-so-ever!!!!) so i gun it and try to catch up but i guess the guy let off the gas a bit and his transmission bumped him out of a lower gear

we're at another red light, this time when it hits green i take off and it sucked cuz i chirped first and second and he pulled quick (another side note; this is my first stick...i've never raced a stick, so what i do is shift when i'm around 4.5k -5k rpms. and please, if i'm doing something wrong...let me know) so anyways he pulls and from first to second i'm completely on his *** (that was the disappointing part...) then as soon as i hit 3rd gear i just come up on him like a bat out of hell, i pass him like nothing.

after that we hit the next light, give a wave and off i was to going home. it was fun, but damn...that thing had some kick for an auto with just 170hp compared to my 190hp (going off sticker numbers, i know i have less) but geezus...hundai knows how to make one hell of a v6er... i mean the size of it, dual exhaust, and it only has 4 gears in auto (or so the guy told me)....

but anyways, in the end...i'm disappointed in my car a bit...the gears suck!!!! i love it, its an awsome car....but now i gotta try and catch up to a freakin tiburon????? i know the new v6ers can take them easy....but cmon, my car shouldnt have been that slow...maybe i just suck at driving my car...but i've always felt my first and second gear dont have much power at all.....

Something has to be wrong with your car. The 6spd manual ones only run the 1/4 mile in the mid 15's and thats with a good driver, they probably average 15.7-15.8 and the autos most likely run low 16's stock. Tough one for you, start modding I guess.

It's not that Hyundai makes a good sixxer, its that the pre-05 V6 Mustang's were that bad. With a 6spd, the quickest Tiburon did 0-60 in the low 7's. But worse yet is that the automatic V6 Tiburon's did 0-60 in the low 8's.

Could be worse though, you could have an automatic 94-98 with either 145hp or 150hp.

There might not be anything wrong with your car. Do you consider yourself a good driver? Go find another v6 like yours, with or without mods and race and see what happens. If you would like, go get a diagnostics check done.

How many miles are on your car? Is the clutch slipping at all?
