Default Good first time track runs

Well I went to the track the other day. My better times were 13.877@101.14mph and a best of 13.838@102.34mph 1/4 mile. I had reaction times of .444 and .908 (I kept spinning lol) It was alot of fun, probably around 95degrees outside. I went to Bradenton Motor speedway in FL. Next time I think I will lower my air pressure in my rear tires and take out my rear seats, maybe it will help, also not have 3/4 tank of gas while I'm racing. Any other ideas to improve my times?

Intake anda tune and you only ran 13.8?

Most stangs are running 13.8 stock..not to be a jerk or anything...but you need to analyze your slips to find out where your flaws are, becuase with an intake and tune, you should be seeing mid 13's...

Lower your rear tire pressure to 20...that will help a bit with traction...but if your spinning that much, you need to practice your launches...

What were your 60'?

A good/bad 60' can make or break teh ET...

Hey, you did better than I did--

Best run was 9.41 in the 1/8th ---------NO SPRAY, NO TRACTION

spinnin thru 3rd gear everytime. Guess thats what happens when its a lite mist outside on reg 245/45/17 street tires.

^^ Haha, yepp...they let you run on the track when it was wet??

Yeah, I agree with shooter23, a CAI/tune even in 95 degree weather should yield at least a 13.4-13.5(on the first run when the engine's not super warm). The reaction time(on an open track day) is useless, your 60ft time is the single most important part of drag racing(banging gears, or letting the auto tranny do it's thing is the easy part). I've run 14.0@100 in a 40 mph headwind late last year with a terrible 2.23 60ft time[&o]. Have gone 13.8@101 with a 2.11 60ft under better conditions and I still think I'm not doing my best driving.

I didn't realize I could spin 3rd on a wet road until I downshifted at 60mph to pass someone and hammered it.I could feel my *** end sliding around and it felt light as a feather. I'll be passing in 4th from now on if it's slightly raining.

Good times for your 1st timeat a track, especially when consideringthe temps were in the mid-90's(and probably also with high relative humidity levels that Fla. is known for). Those two factors reduce the power output of the S197's, even when equipped with a CAI and a tune. But like the others stated, you can hit the mid-13's if you work on reducing your spinning.

Ya I know I can do better. It was my first time at the track with this car, I need to practice my launches and lower my tire pressure. My 60 was 2.15 for the 13.838 run and 2.11 for the 13.877 1/8 was 9.002 and 9.007 Plus I was running 87 octane gas..3/4 tank full
