Coming home from work tonight, I noticed a silver 350Z zig-zagging it way through traffic behind me. It was heavy traffic.. alot of cars in a pack. He worked his way right behind me, and was riding my tail pretty close. I get to a red light, and I'm the first car with him directly behind me.. there an old S-10 next to me. I was getting the vibe that if I accelerated away from that S-10, then the Z would whip out next to me and whoop me good. So I took off moderately quick, and sure enough, the Z goes by. I'm doing 45 and he zips past me quick, but then he slows down and speeds up trying to bait me.
I figured I'd lose, so I didn't bite... He was about 3 cars in front of me, and the light up ahead was yellow, but he slammed on his brakes--waiting for me. I thought.. "great".

We're side by side at the light, and I thought, "OK.. on green, I'm going for it.. win or lose."
When the light goes green, I'm off, I hear his tires chirp, so I got the jump!! His nose was even with my door, and I just kept itfloored! We stayed at that pace and I was ahead up to 80! He never could gain on me! Came into some traffic, so we both slowed down.

My lane was moving slower.. so I never caught up to him again, but I couldn't freakin' believe it!!!
I stuck with a 350Z up to 80!

Disclaimer: I know I'm not a "Z-killer", I know this guy didn't launch well, I know this race doesn't speak for all 4.0s vs all Zs, I know he may have passed me beyond 80 mph.. all I'm saying is this time, this race, I won.

My mods: VMP 93 performance tune, Arospeed intake, true dual exhaust w/o crosspipe.

 

Sounds like a really fun race. It's always great to run right with or even beat a car you think you'll lose to.

 

Surprising results....... but nice kill, I guess.

 

Nice kill, who cares if on paper a 4.0 shouldn't beat that car, in a race all things are taken into account and you were the better driver.

i owned a 350z nismo and i wouldnt trade my mustang for it ever, im sorry guys but the 4.0 isnt something to take lightly

It may have been one of the older 2003's with 287hp. Either way that 350Z driver will probably concentrate a little harder next time he lines up against a 4.0.
