most tracksare 13.99 and faster you need a helmet, seatbelt is a must, no other passengersand you cant race with the top down. on grudge nights at our local track not many of the NHRA rules apply bc i was worried about a rollbar inmy car(13.5or faster) but theres other verts running faster then that with no cage or bar either. On a points nights i think its different all the rules apply

our local track has NO rules at all, no matter how fast, no helmet is required, or cage for that matter. The top has to be up and belt is "supposed" to be buckled.
thats just being stupid is you wouldnt wear a heltmet or seatbelt

i think that roll cage rule is stupid. A bike is alowd to run down the track running 8s all day with only a helmat & protective padding. Yet the guy in the 3000lbs car that has air bags & seat belts, is wearing a helmat & is surround with a strong frame cant run a 13.49 unless he is surrounded in a 360 deg cage of steel. That means a stock LS1 Camaro convertible isent legally alowd to run at the track. that makes alot of sence.

BTW, I have heard that it is safer to flip a convertible with the top down than it is with the top up. With the top down you stand a chance to have your body under the dash & such. But if you roll with the top up, The top is going to calapse & all the steel fram peices that are right over your head are going to brake & come crashing down. eh...

there was a bone stock gold SL65 AMG at the track over here last year.... he had a helmet and stuff but his first pass was a 11.5 and they told him he couldn't run again without a rollbar/rollcage

go figure... a bone stock vert needs a rollcage [&:]

but yeah... the BIG track by me (milan dragway) says you need a rollbar or a rollcage in a convertable if you run just a 13.5

http://www.milandragway.com/2007/rules.html

and ANYTHING 13's and quicker you need a walnut shell..... convertable or not
hey morbid, you ever take the ls to milan? if so shoot me a pm and i'll meet you out there

The guy in the AMG should of then proceeded to inform them that the car does indeed have a rollbar and deployed it in front of them. All it takes is to press a button on the dash. Or let the computer handle it in the case it is going to crash it deploys in a fraction of a second and can take a fair pounding.
