first nitrous pass
went to the track tonight to make my first run on nitrous(100 shot). the first run i made was N/A just to get some rubber on the tires....ran a 13.8 cause i missed 4th haha. i ran against a sti and he ran a 13.8 also and just barly beat me!! anyway nitrous run.....did a nice 2nd gear birnout...had the mickeys at 12 psi, bottle pressure was at 900. got up to the line and launched kind of soft....at 3000rpms the nitrous kicked in and hauled a$$. i ended up running a 12.8 @ 111 with a 1.9 60ft. i was shifting nice and slow so i didnt miss any gears so i know i could have donea little better but man that thing pulls!!!! very happy with the car
yea i didnt used to b a big fan of nitrous but im poor so i couldnt get a supercharger...had to go with the cheep h/p but i no regrets here...not like i have ever owned a supercharged car but i have been in plenty of supercharged gts and i would take a nitrous gt over supercharged one anyday....im hoping to get my times down to a 12.5 with my current mods...then after skinnies and S/F/C maby 12.3-12.3 then slicks and see some 12.0!
900 psi seems really low. What is your a/f at when running that?
I usually run my pressure between 1100 - 1150 psi and my a/f is perfect at about 11.9. You should heat your bottle a bit more to at least 1000 psi and you will notice a huge difference!
My 100 shot got me at 11.9 in the 1/4where my 125 got me to 11.7, 150 shot going in this weekend, but needless to say i love my nitrous. Sure i would like a s/c or turbo for the all the time power, but i wouldnt take anything over my set-up at the track.
