My 07 gt vs an m3
So I have a 2007 stickshift mustang gt and my friend has a 2002 SMG m3, the last model made before BMW stopped making M3s in anticipation of the 2008 m3.
So we went to a large empty parking lot, in hopes I'd learn how to do fast turns and keep control of the mustang, which for me is really hard coming from being a mercedez/bmw guy where handling is a plus :-)
Instead we decided to drag. SO we line up, set a finish point, and my friend counted down. I got an awesome launch and got an instant 1-2 car lead on him, and gained a bit more, kept the lead as I shifted into second and passed the finishing point in the lead! I was very surprised, since when I got the mustang, I was thinking 350z, g35, and 328s would be my main competition, I had no idea I would be able to compete with M3s and 335i's!!!
However, if the race was a bit longer, I am pretty sure my friend in the m3 would of caught up and gained the lead. I got a huge advantage being in a stickshift and therefore having the ability to launch the car unlike him, and I think I also have a slight torque advantage which helped me greatly in this shorter drag race.
This is my first race, please don't flame me if you think its pathetic or something, haha, I'm just really happy knowing I can compete with m3s in drag, since this also means I should also have no problem with 335i's, which for some reason alot of my friends seem to be getting that car, so it'll be fun staying on top of them all

Sorry but they did not stop makingM3s in 02, and SMG is benz, M is BMW, its like the german SVT. Other than that sick kill.

Nah, you're thinking of "AMG"... SMG is a type of transmission that some M3s were equipped with. It's actually a pretty money tranny... it's a mix of auto/manual if I remember right.
