Air bags are deployed by g sensors sometimes, I suppose if you launch hard enough it could trigger the sensor. I saw a video where a guy honked at an old woman in a crosswalk for walking slowly, and she hit his bumper with her purse(mind you this woman is like 85 so I doubt she hits THAT hard). His air bag went off and nailed him in the face full force, caught by an intersection video camera

40k hahaha... probably close or well above 100k, especially with the man hours. Shop by me has a supra build going on a 1.5 years and they have over 80 into it without the price of the car.
That turbo... took like 4 seconds to spool haha. It's a shame supra's front ends are extremely ugly. The headlights make it look sad. I like the rest of the car.

I was bored today and I was doing laundry so I decided to go to target to pick up a magazine. I got one of those import tuner mags and they had a big article on Supras. Some big event with all sorts of Supra owners where they all dyno'd and went to the track. A couple hit 1000+hp as well as this car was featured. Then they went to the track and the magazine said they did rolls from 30 for the quarter!?!? Is this actually true? If so that's pretty weak....they were bragging about how they were faster than Enzo's and were hitting 180+.....albeit from a roll

You mean the old woman airbag movie was a fake? I didn't know that, but having worked on an ambulance, I've see airbags go off for VERY minor fender benders, and not go off when a car hits a brick wall at 80mph. Granted those are the exceptions rather than the rule, but sometimes those sensors/triggers can be twitchy. The funny thing is with all that money into the Supra, it was felled by a sensor that prolly costs less than $10. It did look like there was an explosion of some sort under the car though, maybe it blew something up and that triggered it?

What's funny is, most modern cars now have a switch where you put your key in and can turn off the passenger airbag....if that Supra had one it would have literally taken 1 second to prevent that
