I oughta win right.....the 5 speeds only have 232 hp and a 150lbs/tq

this little junior in my school, his parents just baught it for him and he came in like oh my 08 rx8 will rape you blah blah blah so i gotta race him

well right now he would win cause i need a new front main seal but when its fixed ill beat him

 

It might be close just depends on how bad that stock convertor and the AOD hurt you. Its not going to be a blowout by any means..

Mid 14s @ mid 90mph traps I believe are what they run..you will be pressed to match with just headers and little else.

I argee, normally an RX-8 would beat you. However with a young driver that just got a car like that I would predict you will win.

 

I think it's going to be close, but I'll give the edge to you. I raced the 6 speed(I think thats what they are right) RX-8 in my stock 84 5-speed, and I'd pull on him in the lower gears but he would start pulling harder the faster we went. But the carb'd 5.0's are plagued with horrible top-end, and yet I still held him off for awhile. So I think you will win if the kid can drive though it might be close. If he can't, then you'll blow him out.

08 rx-8 have 6spds. 232hp 159tq...

if he has an auto, itll help in the sense that itll have 212hp but hurt you in the sense that itll take less know how to drive.

the difference in HP is due to the fact that the manual has an extra 1000rpm of redline the auto tranny doesnt. which gives it some added room to produce a bit more hp. the tq is the same because it drops off way before the redline of either car. the auto goes to 7500rpm and manual goes to 8500.

the weight is 3045 for the manual and a tad more for the auto.... so its light.

itll be a close race, go from a dig and youll prolly have him. itll take ALOT more skill for him to run for a dig rather then a roll, and you will have the advantage from the dig.

is it me? or have i noticed alot of threads about a bunch of little punks with either mom and dads car, or one they handed to them on a silver platter, wanting to be bada$$... where as i find this kinda humorous, its also rather annoying at the same time...

You should not have any trouble with the RX8. I ran one of those when I had my 4.0 Stang and ate his lunch. You should be able to handle this one.

 

errrr... if you go to rx8 boards, you'd see some very respectible mid 14 runs. you guys are just giving him the edge because he has a mustang. i'd give the edge more to the rx8 if you run 15s. i doubt headers made you much quicker.
