Well, Finally got to toy with a S197. It wasn't much of a race imho. Very high roll (80, he wouldn't slow). Anyways, I just leftmy car in 4th (6-speed). I have no clue if he was auto or stick. I do know where the guy works and 1 of his co-workers so I will find out. Anyways,I started at around 4K rpm and he got the hit which he used to puta fenderor so on me. We heldalmost even with me slowly inching on him untilat around 4800 rpm or so I started to pass him with more gustoand at 5500rpm I could almost see him in my rear view mirror. I would say I got 1-2 cars on him as there was a car in his lane andat the point where I put 1-2 cars on him I have no idea whether he slowed after that or not because we were approaching said car. I would assume he did and so I just claim a 1-2 car win with him having the hit.

He appeared as stock as I am. Will post up when I find out more about the car.

S197 = 2005+

Good race dude, he could have been stock, or had a CAI + Tune, shifting into 5th for our cars = death IMHO.

 

New Edge = '99 - '04, S197 = '05 and up.

 

I was a certified ford sales rep at the time the new GT came out. I am pretty familiar with them. Unless he had a "hidden" mod like a CAI or something, he was stock. His exhaust was stock for sure. Stock FoMoCo mufflers. Stock rims/tires, stock ride-height, ect.

 

I find myself wishing I had thrown it into 3rd like I did for the Z4///M I beat up last month. Then again, it took some "playing" to get him to bite and I don't like sitting on 5K rpm for 20 seconds jumping at someone to instigate something, hence I picked 4th gear which put me at 3800-4200 while instigating. I really want to run an S197 from a lower speed, like 40mph or something (my tires are about gone and so digs are OUT.)

 

Racing on bald tires FTW! Nothing says saftey like racing from 80 to 100+ MPH on bald tires!
