the dark side...
to all my fellow fordlovers, i have some possible bad news...
to all you chevy lovers, possible good...
To start, i mean no offence to the chevy guys on this forum by calling it the dark side [8D]
I have been looking into building a "race car" for some time now, more so one that i can keep streetable.
im deciding between 2 kit cars... one i could make all at once (the donor car is a 5.0 which is cheap) and the other i would have to buy a vette for a few years just because it costs alot more.
the kit is this... http://www.factoryfive.com/gtm/galle...k/gallery.html
it sits an inch lower then the FORD GT and takes a mid mount vette engine with a porche tranny.
to show you how low it sits... theres a pic
the other one is this, which takes the 5.0

pricewise, the mustang one would be better, for about the same performance. could get it running for 22kish
the vette one, however, is a lot more unique and i just find it sexi. i could get it running for 30kish
the reason for both these cars are simple, its a car i can take pride in building, and i really want to learn, its been something on my mind for as long as i can remember to build one.
my main problem with the vette based kit is, it doesnt have ford internals, which im very partial to. but i could deal being that its still an american car, and i owned a chevy previous to my mustang.
both kits weigh about the same (2300lbs) and have about the same performance, and both are built from a tubular frame, which also is a roll cage.
let me know what ya think.

I like the second one better, looks more like a street car, plus I love those Shelby Daytona super coupes, i just think they look so bad ***!
Either one you go with will be very cool! Be sure to post pics once it gets started

do the super car... it is soo much sicker lookin... plus the big push of a rear wheel drive rear engine car powered by a vette motor is a huge plus... i wanted to do that one but i did the math and at this current point in time i really cant afford it...
yeah i cant really afford it right now either... the supercar would require me to buy the vette, and just hold on to it for a few years. where as the type 65 i could prolly do in a year or 2...
ive been tossing these both around for some time. the only thing holding me back on both is the cash, but i intend on doing one of them, even if its slow work.
both will turn heads...
mind you this is for NASA/SCCA racing i want to get into. next year im going to get a racing licence so i can compete...
